Map Overview
Nepal is a Himalayan mountain control map with three sub-maps: Village, a traditional outdoor settlement; Shrine, an open mountain path with a platform point; and Sanctum, an indoor monastery interior.
Village is an open area with multiple route options.
Shrine features a raised platform control point above a drop.
Sanctum is a tight indoor environment with close-quarter fights.
Nepal is distinctive because all three sub-maps reward very different playstyles, requiring teams to adapt their composition and strategy significantly.
This map is particularly notorious for Sanctum's enclosed space enabling explosive ultimate combinations.
Attack Strategy
On Village, push from the right-side path and establish the rooftop position before contesting the point.
On Shrine, climb to the shrine structure's elevated areas before pushing the point platform — the height advantage is decisive.
On Sanctum, enter from both corridors simultaneously to prevent defenders from holding a single entrance.
Be first to the point and establish a defensive anchor — giving up the point on Nepal is very difficult to overcome due to the narrow approach paths.
Defense Strategy
On Village, hold the stone wall at the approach to the point rather than standing in the centre.
On Shrine, use the elevated shrine structure to fire down on attackers attempting to capture below.
On Sanctum, hold just inside the point area and use the two corridor entrances to create crossfire angles.
If ahead in percentage, pull back to the hall outside the point and contest from the approach rather than risking the point fight.
Key Positions & High Ground
Village Rooftop: An accessible rooftop near the Village point provides elevation advantage over the entire capture area.
Shrine Platform Rim: The outer rim of the raised shrine platform allows players to fire down on enemies below while having the high ground.
Sanctum Left Alcove: A recessed alcove on the left side of the Sanctum interior provides cover while maintaining sightlines on the point.
Shrine Elevated Structure: The shrine building itself can be stood on by mobile heroes for the map's highest vantage point.
Chokepoints to Control
Sanctum's two corridor entrances are the most famous chokepoints on Nepal — defenders can hold both simultaneously by spreading players.
Break both corridors at once with coordinated entry.
Village's stone wall creates a natural chokepoint between the spawn side and the point — control this wall and defenders have a significant advantage.
Shrine's elevated approach is a chokepoint where defenders on the raised platform can fire freely while attackers below take damage.
Ultimate Usage Tips
Sanctum is the best map in the game for Graviton Surge into Dragonstrike — the enclosed space prevents any escape.
Earthshatter through either Sanctum corridor catches the entire defensive line.
On Shrine, Gravitic Flux from below picks everyone off the elevated platform in one ultimate.
On Village, Blizzard on the stone wall approach completely halts any push when time is low.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Teams send players through Sanctum's corridors one at a time and die to the crossfire — always enter both simultaneously.
On Shrine, attackers walk up the ramp to the point rather than using elevated structures to fire from above, putting themselves at a height disadvantage.
On Village, players stand in the point centre in the open rather than using the stone walls for cover.
Never use your ultimate on fewer than three enemies on any Nepal sub-map — the enclosed spaces guarantee value.
