King’s Row Strategy Guide

Map Overview

Kings Row is a British hybrid map set in a grimy omnic city district, featuring cobblestone streets, underground tunnels, and Victorian architecture.

The payload must be pushed through the omnic quarter, breach the sealed gate, and deliver through the underground chambers.

Kings Row is one of Overwatch's most beloved and iconic maps, with a deep competitive metagame.

The underground section creates uniquely enclosed battles, and the final push through the omnic district's inner chambers is one of the most intense competitive situations in the game.

Attack Strategy

For the first capture point, approach from the right-side alley to avoid the head-on defend setup.

Once captured, push the payload quickly through the first cobblestone section to prevent defenders from regrouping.

At the sealed gate, coordinate an Earthshatter through the gate as it opens — this is critical.

In the underground section, use both the left and right passages simultaneously to prevent defenders from holding a single angle.

For the final delivery, push through with your entire team as a single unit rather than trickling in.

Defense Strategy

For the first point defence, hold from inside the building at the point approach rather than on the point itself.

Once the first point falls, set up at the sealed gate with a Bastion turret — this is one of the best defensive positions in any Overwatch map.

For the underground section, hold the left passage with crossfire into the centre.

For the final delivery area, use the elevated walkways above the inner chambers to fire down on the payload.

Key Positions & High Ground

Kings Row Gate Area: The sealed gate approach has elevated stone walkways on both sides that defenders use to fire down on attackers attempting to push through.

Underground Left Passage: The left route through the underground omnic section provides cover and crossfire angles into the central area.

Inner Chamber Elevated Walkways: Elevated pathways above the final delivery area that provide commanding downward angles.

Victorian Rooftops: Several buildings in the initial section have accessible rooftops that provide sightlines over the cobblestone streets.

Chokepoints to Control

The sealed gate is the most critical chokepoint on Kings Row — defenders stack on the elevated gate walkways and inside the gate passage.

An Earthshatter through the gate opening clears this position.

The underground section's central junction is a three-way chokepoint where attackers must commit from one direction simultaneously.

The final delivery area's entrance corridor is the last chokepoint — teams run out of time here most commonly.

Ultimate Usage Tips

Nano Boost on Reinhardt with immediate Earthshatter through the sealed gate is the definitive Kings Row combination.

Graviton Surge into Dragonstrike at the underground junction clears all three attack directions.

Blizzard at the sealed gate approach completely halts progress with critical time pressure.

Self-Destruct in the underground passage bounces off the tunnel walls for extreme area damage.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1

Attackers lose multiple players trying to push through the sealed gate without coordinating an Earthshatter — never push the gate without a clear setup.

2

The underground section is consistently approached from one direction instead of both simultaneously, allowing defenders to hold a single angle.

3

Teams spend all their ultimates fighting the first point and have nothing left for the decisive gate push — bank resources specifically for the gate.
