Junkertown Strategy Guide

Map Overview

Junkertown is the fortified home of the Junkers, a sprawling junkyard city where the payload must navigate through scrap markets, an arena, and finally breach the throne room of the Junker Queen herself.

The map is large and linear, with aggressive flanking routes throughout.

The three phases cover the initial market approach, a narrow mid-section through the arena, and a dramatic final push to the throne.

Unlike most escort maps, Junkertown's final section features multiple routes that defenders must cover simultaneously, making coordinated attacks extremely rewarding.

Attack Strategy

Use the rooftop routes above the market to control sightlines before pushing the payload into the first section.

Have your flanker take the tunnel beneath the market to pressure defenders from behind early.

At the arena, coordinate the team so two players push through the upper walkway while the rest escort the payload below.

The throne approach features a long straight corridor — do not push in without ultimates ready.

Bring Sigma's barrier to walk the payload into the throne section safely, then use a Graviton Surge or Earthshatter to clear it.

Defense Strategy

Set up your first defence at the scrap yard wall rather than the open market — this position allows you to hold with cover.

After ceding the first checkpoint, rotate to the upper arena walkway for the best position on the entire map.

Defenders on the upper walkway can fire down on both the payload and any players trying to push through below.

For the throne section, split defenders between the main gate and the left side tunnel to prevent the inevitable flanking.

Save Bastion's turret setup for the throne approach narrow corridor.

Key Positions & High Ground

Market Rooftops: Accessible from multiple jump-up points, these elevated positions control the entire first section with long sightlines over the market.

Arena Upper Walkway: The most powerful defensive position on Junkertown, giving sight over both the payload corridor and the side flanking route.

Throne Approach Corridor: The narrow straight section before the throne is extremely defensible with the right setup.

Side Tunnel: Runs parallel to the throne approach and allows attackers to bypass the main corridor chokepoint.

Chokepoints to Control

The market entrance creates the first major chokepoint — defenders stack behind the scrap wall and deny forward movement.

Use the tunnel below to send a flanker while the barrier pushes through the main route.

The arena section narrows into a corridor that defenders hold with Bastion or Orisa setups.

A coordinated Graviton Surge into Dragonstrike or Tactical Visor breaks this position reliably.

The throne approach corridor is the most defensible chokepoint on the map — never push through without ultimates or the payload will stall immediately.

Ultimate Usage Tips

Nano Boost on Sigma at the market section clears the scrap wall defence with a single Gravitic Flux.

Graviton Surge into Dragonstrike is extremely effective at the arena corridor chokepoint.

On defence, a Blizzard at the throne approach corridor completely stops momentum when time is low.

Earthshatter through the throne gate followed by a Reaper Death Blossom can instantly end a round.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1

Attackers fail to use the market rooftops and instead push straight into the scrap wall chokepoint, losing multiple players every attempt.

2

Always establish high ground first.

3

Teams push the throne approach corridor without ultimates and lose three players instantly to the narrow sightlines.

4

Defenders hold the first checkpoint too long instead of rotating to the superior arena walkway position.

5

Spreading ultimates across all three sections instead of banking them for the critical throne approach is a common mistake.
