Hanamura Strategy Guide

Map Overview

Hanamura is an assault map set in the Shimada clan's Japanese estate.

Attackers must capture two control points in sequence — the cherry blossom courtyard (Point A) and the inner sanctum (Point B).

Both points are heavily fortified with defenders having natural high ground advantages.

Attack Strategy

Point A: Use the left or right flanks rather than the main gate.

Pharah flying above the courtyard denies defenders their high ground advantage.

Time attacks to coincide with ultimate combinations.

Point B: The inner sanctum has strong defensive angles — approach from the garden path or use shields to push through the front door.

Defense Strategy

Point A: Hold the entry buildings and deny attackers the flanking courtyards.

Junkrat's traps around the archways are very effective.

Point B: The defending team has multiple elevated positions around the inner courtyard — use them relentlessly.

Key Positions & High Ground

The rooftop overlooking Point A's courtyard: critical for snipers and Pharah.

The inner garden walls around Point B: high ground for Hanzo.

The pagoda roof at Point A: strong vision point for the whole courtyard.

Chokepoints to Control

The main gate into Point A's courtyard.

The stairs leading from A to B's garden path.

The final entrance through B's main door.

Ultimate Usage Tips

Dragonstrike (Hanzo): The garden path between A and B is a perfect corridor for this ultimate.

Barrage (Pharah): Unleash above Point B's courtyard for massive AoE pressure.

Blizzard (Mei): Freeze the entire Point A defense around the courtyard entrance.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1

Attacking into the main gate head-on without flanking.

2

Defenders leaving the high ground.

3

Both teams stacking ultimates too late.
