Busan Strategy Guide

ControlDifficulty: Moderate

Map Overview

Busan is a Korean-themed control map featuring three dramatically different sub-maps: Downtown, a neon-lit urban district; MEKA Base, the robotic factory where D.Va's mechs are built; and Sanctuary, a traditional Korean temple courtyard.

Each sub-map has a distinct meta and requires different tactical approaches.

Downtown features long sightlines and elevated paths, MEKA Base has close corridors and a central point, and Sanctuary's open courtyard with ledge drops rewards positioning mastery.

Winning two out of three sub-maps takes the round in this best-of-three format.

Attack Strategy

On Downtown, establish a player on the bus stop roof immediately to contest the elevated approach to the point.

Push from multiple angles — one player through each side alley while the main team takes the center.

On MEKA Base, control the central platform on the point and hold rather than spreading — the small point rewards tight positioning.

On Sanctuary, hold the outer courtyard arc rather than standing on the point itself, giving yourself room to fight.

Be aggressive about contesting — giving up full percentage leads to comeback difficulty.

Defense Strategy

On Downtown, defend from the central pillar row rather than standing on the point — you have better angles and can deny approach from the elevated position.

On MEKA Base, use the side corridors to flank attackers pushing to the center point.

On Sanctuary, hold the left elevated terrace to fire down on enemies approaching the point.

Never give up a full 100% lead to the enemy — contest early even at disadvantage to prevent a clean capture.

Key Positions & High Ground

Downtown Bus Rooftop: The highest point in the Downtown sub-map, accessible from the rear alley, commands the entire capture area.

MEKA Assembly Arms: The robotic arms on either side of the central MEKA platform provide cover and elevation advantage for point control.

Sanctuary Left Terrace: An elevated outdoor terrace on the left side of the Sanctuary courtyard with dangerous ledge drop proximity.

Sanctuary Back Garden: The rear garden area behind the shrine provides a flanking route that surprises teams holding the front terrace.

Chokepoints to Control

Downtown's point has elevated paths on both sides that defenders use to hold the approach — contest both before committing to the point.

MEKA Base's central point is extremely tight, making AOE ultimates particularly powerful.

Sanctuary's courtyard has ledge drops on both sides that Roadhog, Orisa, or Wrecking Ball can exploit for environmental eliminations.

Ultimate Usage Tips

On MEKA Base, Self-Destruct on the cramped central point eliminates multiple targets instantly — pair it with a Graviton Surge.

On Sanctuary, Earthshatter through the courtyard catches the entire enemy team grouped on the point.

Dragonstrike along the Downtown alley approaches is extremely effective at clearing one side of point defense entirely.

Kitsune Rush on any sub-map accelerates a decisive team fight to completion.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1

Teams spread too thin across all three Busan sub-maps and lose control fights by not having enough players on the point.

2

Focus the team and commit to each fight.

3

Over-relying on the same composition for all three sub-maps is a mistake — Sanctuary rewards different heroes than MEKA Base.

4

Defenders give up the elevated positions and fight on the point itself, removing their positional advantage in all three sub-maps.
